Introduction to Lightroom CC on mobile

- [Instructor] Lightroom on Mobile is part of Adobe's ecosystem of cloud-centric Lightroom products. That system includes not only Lightroom on Mobile, the subject of this course, but also, the relatively new Lightroom Desktop application and Lightroom on the Web. Until recently, those applications were called Lightroom CC, but now they're all called Lightroom, so please be aware of that name change. Now because these applications are part of an ecosystem, whatever you do to your photos in Lightroom on Mobile will automatically appear in Lightroom on your desktop and web and vice versa, at least if you're a member of an Adobe plan. All the editing and organizing that you do to photos in Lightroom on any device goes up to the cloud of Adobe servers and then down to Lightroom on your other devices. That's why this is called a cloud-centric system. Now don't confuse this cloud-centric system with another more traditional product, Adobe Lightroom Classic. Lightroom Classic is a desktop application that has been around for over 10 years. It's had a few name changes over the years, but now it's called Lightroom Classic. The thing to remember about Lightroom Classic is that it doesn't automatically participate in the Lightroom Cloud system. If you're working in Lightroom Classic, your photos and edits won't automatically show up in Lightroom on Mobile. There is a way to sync selected collections of photos between Lightroom Classic and Lightroom on Mobile, but you have to deliberately set that up as I'll show you how to do later in this course. I'm switching over to show you Lightroom on my iPad to explain one more thing about Lightroom on Mobile that's important for this course. You can download the Lightroom Mobile app for free using its basic editing, capturing, organizing, and sharing features on your mobile device for free. But in that case, you won't have access to additional premium features of Lightroom on Mobile that you would if you had a paid Adobe plan. If you are using Lightroom on Mobile for free, please don't be surprised that some of the features shown in this course are not available to you, like the whole syncing system that I just described. If you want to know if a feature is a premium feature, when you're in Lightroom on Mobile, and you're in the editing space, look for the blue star on an editing feature, like this healing brush tool, or tap the three dot menu at the top right, choose Settings and tap Premium Features, and then you can swipe through these descriptions of each premium feature. If you decide that you want to add those to Lightroom Mobile, tap Upgrade Now or subscribe to a plan on the Adobe website. So now that you know where Lightroom on Mobile sits in the Lightroom system, let's go ahead and work with Lightroom on Mobile.
