Starting with a profile

- [Instructor] A good place to start editing a photo is by applying a profile. In this movie, I'll introduce why and how to apply a profile to a raw file, and then we'll look at using profiles on JPEG photos. Profiles are particularly important for raw files because raw files are just ones and zeros until they're rendered in a way that we can see them on screen as images, and a Lightroom profile impacts how a raw file is rendered in Lightroom and it's resulting look. If you're following along, go to album view and tap the exercise files album, and let's open a raw file. I'm going to tap this photo of a castle by the sea, which is a raw file and that opens in loop view. If you don't see the column of editing controls on an iPad, then tap the edit button at the top of the taskbar.
