Add Lens Flare with more precise control

- Thanks for joining me in another episode of Photo Tools Weekly. In this one, we'll be working on two photographs. Here I want to share with you a bit more of an advanced technique for adding a lens flare effect so that you can have even more precise control. Before I show you the technique, I need to set up the problem and here it is. Typically what happens when we want to add a lens flare effect is we select the layer, we navigate to the Filter pulldown menu, then choose Render, then next select lens Flare. This opens up a dialogue which, in my opinion, is really small. It's hard to work with, we can apply this effect and dial in the brightness and whatnot. We can't really customize the way it looks. If we want more control, what we can actually do is apply this to a separate layer. Let me show you how this works. Here we'll click Cancel and this technique begins by creating a new layer.
