Choosing a portable backdrop

(guitar music) - For this style of shoot, we need to have a background. And personally I like shooting this style on a black background. Now you could use fabric or you could use anything that's black to help you, but the key is, it can't be reflective. Meaning that when the light hits it, it can't shine through it or it can't bounce off it and come back. That's why a professional background system is ideal. This particular one is non-reflective, so when the light hits it, it absorbs the light and it doesn't bounce back on to the subject. So for this particular shoot, we used Aloma Pop from Digital Juice. What I like best about it, it's small and compact and it doesn't take up much room. Now in addition to the background, we have to have something to support it and that's where you need light stands. Now when you're dealing with a shoot outside, a heavier light stand is extremely recommended just for safety reasons. And once you have the light stands all set up, you wanna put sandbags…
