- You might be wondering how does Lightroom decide which images are on your computer and which images are in the cloud? Well, it actually uses several different rules. First case, if you rate an image with four or five stars, it assumes that that's an image that you like and one that you're going to use often. By default, four and five-star images will be synced to your local computer if there's enough space. if you've imported photos using Lightroom desktop or mobile within the last 15 days, those images are also going to be stored locally if there's enough space. This assumes that you brought those images in and you intended to work with them. But after two weeks or so, it starts to remove them to free up space as needed. Additionally, when we learn about albums, you can decide to flag an album so that it always stores locally.
