- [Theresa] The Detail panel is used for sharpening and noise reduction. I'm viewing the chapter seven 0704 folder, and I've opened the Detail panel in the Develop module. Most raw images require some input sharpening beyond this default setting of 40, which we see here. How much will depend on your camera, the lens used, and the image itself. Many photos also benefit with some noise reduction. Noise is typically found in images that are captured with a high ISO in a low light setting like this one was. This picture that we see at the top of the Detail panel is a zoomed in preview area of the image. And if you click and drag, you can move this around. I don't find this that helpful, though. So I'm going to click on this triangle to collapse it. And notice when I collapse that preview, we get this exclamation mark. This is telling us that in order to see what we're actually applying to the image, we need to zoom in on it.…
