Newer cameras have a greater dynamic range, meaning they can record a greater breadth of light values in older cameras with the same exposure; however, all cameras still fall short of what our eyes can see. When we want to see all the tonal values of the scene, we can use a technique called bracketing to create HDR, or high dynamic range. It's where we take multiple shots with a variety of exposures and stitch them together. Or sometimes, if we took one photo, we will push and pull the shadows and highlights of our images in the post-processing stage, blending multiple exposures into one image that more closely represents what our eyes saw in nature.
