Exposure, an overview
- [Instructor] Exposure triangle or adjusting your exposure. The engineers who designed our cameras really try to help us get it right in camera with the subject being properly exposed. We'll have to tweak these engineered settings in order to create a killer silhouette. To start, let's briefly go over the exposure triangle. It's not nearly as intimidating as the Bermuda Triangle, but it is important to understand so we can quickly change our settings and know what will be affected by our choice and to find a way to balance our necessary needs with the ones we can compromise on to get the exposure we desire. Our cameras have three ways to set exposure, ISO, shutter speed and aperture. Let's go over ISO first. ISO is just how fast our sensor can collect light. Back in the film days, we'd go to the store and buy ISO 100 for outdoor, ISO 400 for indoor birthday parties and if we were really brave or pushing it, we buy ISO 800 or 1600 if we knew we'd be in really low light.
