Finding the light

- [Instructor] Finding the Light. When shooting silhouettes, you are a seeker of the light. Finding the right light to light silhouettes can seem pretty easy, but there are a few tricks, and I've made a few mistakes along the way, and I'd love to help you avoid those. Now, sensors see a range of light that is narrower than what we can see with our eyes. This shot didn't quite make a silhouette. The skill with silhouette photography is being able to read the light, and guess that, yes, the background is significantly brighter than the foreground. In this case, it wasn't. Most often when we place the sun in front of us, we'll get a silhouette. We can do this at three in the afternoon, but when it is so bright out, we either have to tighten our aperture to let in a little bit of light, or use a neutral density filter as sunglasses working for our camera.
