- [Instructor] I'm going to be using some terms throughout this training and I thought let's go over 'em right now, make sure we're all on the same page. Let's start out with an HDD, otherwise known as a hard disk drive. You're looking at one right now. You're seeing one without any enclosure at all. You are just looking at the drive itself. It is an electoral, mechanical, data storage device. What does that mean? Has a platter in there that's spinning around and data is written to it. They are fairly affordable in terms of the amount of data they can hold, they are fairly fast and they are fairly reliable. In other words, they are nicely rounded devices that really help us with backup and archiving. They can be inside temporary enclosures like this. They can be inside full enclosures and sometimes they can even be inside a computer itself. They next type is called an SSD. This is a solid state drive. It has an…
