How do I remove haze?
- Haze is a generic term that refers to a lack of contrast in an image. It's all been caused by environmental factors, such as moisture in the air, like fog. But it can also be caused by lighting conditions and other things that get in the way that just cut down on the overall amount of detail, particularly if you're shooting through filters or maybe shooting through a window in a building. In any case, Lightroom offers a specific tool here. I've got a photo open of a foggy day at a lighthouse. And I'll click Auto to get the basic exposure about right. It's a touch bright, so let's just pull that back down. And we'll pull the highlights down a little bit. Looking at this image, it looks fine. But if I use the Dehaze slider, I want you to watch the change. Notice how the blown out sky is changed. Now, we can emphasize the haze with a negative value, which could be kind of cool, bringing out more of that fog. Or go with the…
