- [Instructor] Off Auto. For some people, this next step is an easy step, and you're going to guffaw. Bear with me, those skilled in manual priority modes. This will just take a moment. But in order to create a silhouette, we really do need to take our camera off auto. There are several settings on our dial that we can pick from: Programmed Auto, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, and Manual with Auto ISO, or fully manual with exposure adjustments. Each of these modes we're going to talk about work because it allows us to use exposure compensation. Exposure compensation is telling the camera that you're the boss, that you have a vision that was different than what the algorithms person behind a computer thought you wanted, that you want to control it. This often becomes handy beyond silhouettes.
