If you've never photographed the moon before, it's a good idea to go out a couple of nights before the eclipse. To go through a dry run and make some practice shots. So you can test what exposure settings will work best for the lens that you're using. As well as determine what a good interval time is for the sequence you want to record. In the days before the actual full moon, the moon will be nearly full. So except for the fact that the earth's shadow will not be making an appearance on the lunar surface. We're testing the exposure settings on a bright moon, the conditions will be very similar to what you'll see on the night of the eclipse. In terms of exposure, you might think that since you'll be out photographing at night. That you will need to use a high ISO setting and a longer shutter speed to get a good image of the moon. But actually the moon is so bright your exposure settings will be very similar to what you might use when photographing during the day in bright sun. This is…
