What you should know before watching this course

- Before we explore specific techniques, there are a few things you need to know about this course. First up, I want you to keep in mind that this course is strictly about organizing your images. As such, we're going to focus on all the things you need to know to import, sift, sort, rate, and find the best images, so you can later edit. Now, I know that this is not as much fun as the actual editing part for most of you, but it is critically important because it cuts down on your work and means that you find your best pictures right away. Additionally, go ahead and install the mobile application on a tablet or smartphone. It's not essential to this course, but you are going to see how the organization plays across both devices, which is really quite cool. And I really love the fact that I can work on the go and have it sync back to the cloud and be accessed from a desktop or a laptop. It would be a good idea if you have a basic familiarity with your computer, including how to attach peripheral devices, like a card reader or your camera, if you need to do importing of files. With that said, though, this really is a course acceptable for all user levels. We're going to start out with the essentials but move into advanced techniques, but I don't assume you have any background with Lightroom. Again, though, this is the newer Lightroom, the version that works in the cloud and syncs to both the cloud and allows for local backup. And it allows you to work on a tablet, a smartphone, a desktop, or a laptop. This is not the original Lightroom, now known as Lightroom Classic. So please make sure you've downloaded the correct version of the software, so you're ready to follow along.
