- Hello, and welcome to chapter number two. I'm calling this chapter A Portrait of An Artist. As a photographer I absolutely love having the chance to work with other people who are creative in whatever way it is. And, in this case, I had the opportunity to photograph Chris Burkard who is literally one of the world's best outdoor, and adventure photographers. So before the shoot I was super excited. Chris is someone I know, and even more someone I really admire. And I had to think about what type of photograph I wanted to capture of him. Now there are a lot of environmental portraits of him out in the field doing these amazing adventurous things with waterfalls, and Icelander. Just all kinds of different things. But I knew that I couldn't capture one of those because I was going to his house. So instead I wanted to create an image which was up close, and strong where you felt that connection with the subject. And so, in my mind, I was trying for something which was gonna be timeless, it was really simple, not a lot going on but connection. And, for me, that was all about the eye contact. Now when you go to someone's home, and you've never been there before, like in this situation, you have to think about being flexible. Again that means trying out different locations, and ideas, and really rolling with whatever is happening at that moment. It often also means that you don't have a lot of time because people aren't gonna say hey, let's take, I don't know, a few hours, and do photos. It's like you kinda get in there, you meet, you talk, you take some pictures, and you're out. So I knew that I needed to work quickly, and so what I wanna show you is that process with these images so with that in mind let's go ahead, and jump over to my screen. I'll put on my headphones so we can talk through some of the images, and look at some photographs that really didn't work, and try to find the keeper amidst all of those different images. Alright, with that in mind let's dive in.
