The difference between backing up and archiving
- [Tutor] Backing up files and archiving them are two very different things. I'll start out with a pop quiz. So we're looking at this a little portable SSD right here. Would you use this to backup files? Or to archive them? Well, the answer is backup because backup is for when you're working on something. Let's say that you have a project on your computer right now, you want to make sure that you don't lose it in case something happens to your computer. If you do lose it, you want to make sure you can restore it quickly and usually, we use smaller, more portable drives for backing up our files just to protect us. We also use cloud storage for backing up. There is another way to backup. Archiving on the other hand is something that once the project is done, right? once you've finished with the project, it's been delivered, it's all wrapped up.
