The drawbacks of tethered shooting

As good as tethered shooting is, it does involve a few extra steps. First off, you're going to have longer set up time, so if you're not really into planning and you just want to jump into the moment, tethering will slow you down a little bit. But it is still liberating, and it opens up extra options as you're shooting, so I often find it worthwhile. But you are going to be a bit more stationary. Now there is wireless tethering. And there are WiFi cards so you can be running around an event, shooting while it's syncing to a computer. But at that point, you're limited by the distance of the card and the WiFi network. So it's not something that could reach across the globe. But that's okay. Tethering is a good workflow for many situations. I would just recommend that you start small, and build up your investment.
