it's fairly essential that you get consistent exposure. I don't just mean consistent exposure in one shot. I mean for the whole series. You want to minimize any shift in exposure because if you do you'll see bad banding, or bad merges, and to do this it really helps if you understand exposure. Most of the time we refer to exposure, the relationship, so there's three pieces inside the camera The first off is the aperture, so at the point where the lens is connecting we've got a hole inside the lens, and the lens aperture opens or closes to let in more or less light. The wider it's open, the smaller the number, and this is where you see things like shallow depth of field, Well, with landscape and other instances, we want to be able to take that aperture and make it very small. Others go even higher than that, to small apertures. Generally speaking, when shooting landscapes, you want an aperture that can go to a higher number, which really means a smaller opening.
