Adding video to your profile

- [Instructor] There's no denying the incredible power of video. Video helps to build trust and foster an emotional connection with your audience. It also helps them to retain messages better than just text alone, maximizing your impact. So how can you leverage the power of video on your LinkedIn profile to leave a positive lasting impression on your visitors? Here are a few ideas to add video content to your profile. First, add video to your experience section. I'm a big believer in showing not just telling people what you've done and what you're working on. One easy way to incorporate video into your profile is to link to existing content. For example, I'm a professional speaker. And so in the section describing that experience I've included a recording of a keynote for event planners to check out. Similarly, if you're an actor, reporter, anchor, sportscaster, auctioneer, event host, et cetera, you'll want to include a video showing you on stage or on camera. Okay, now that's a more straightforward example, but what about if you have a job that's more behind the scenes? Well, one way that you can still leverage video for your experience section is to ask clients or customers to record a video testimonial and then include that testimonial on your profile. That's an awesome way to not only leverage the power of video, but social proof too. You can also add a video introduction to your featured section. I mean wouldn't it be awesome if you could personally greet every person that visits your LinkedIn profile? Well, adding a video introduction to your featured section is basically the next best thing. Your featured section takes up some prime real estate on your profile. So adding a photo is a great way to convert visitors into new LinkedIn connections or book sales meetings. Here's an example of what that might look like. When somebody visits my profile, they'll see this video here with a call to action that says, Hey, profile visitor, have five minutes, let's grab coffee. When they click on the video thumbnail it brings them to this landing page that includes a video introduction over a virtual cup of coffee that details my career story and how I can help the person watching the video. Along with options to send me a message on LinkedIn, take my course for free, or jump on a 15 minute zoom call. This is an awesome way to let people get to know you beyond the text on your profile and create a deeper connection. All that you need to create a video like this is a camera or smartphone to record the video. A teleprompter app like BIGVU to ensure that you don't stray off topic and keep the video short. And maybe a few minutes to courageously step into the spotlight. How will you harness the power of video for your own LinkedIn profile? I can't wait to see what you come up with.
