Your LinkedIn newsfeed helps to keep you updated and informed on things happening in your industry. In this video, learn how to use your LinkedIn newsfeed to stay up to date.
- [Instructor] Throughout this course, I've mentioned your LinkedIn Newsfeed and how connecting with people or following groups, hashtags and companies helps LinkedIn to customize your Newsfeed. Let's take a look at what the LinkedIn Newsfeed is. Right now, I'm inside of my personal LinkedIn account and here in the center is the Newsfeed. Now, I can go ahead and scroll down here. I can see there's a post that someone commented on and this is a post from a coworker of mine. Next down here, talking about enterprise video. Here's another one talking about black history month and Tyler Perry. So you can see that there are a bunch of different articles in here that I could go ahead and click on. I can click on links within here. I can select hashtags to go look them up. Now, if I scroll back to the top here I just want to show on the top post or any post that there are these three dot icons in the upper right corner. If I click on that, I can save a post for later, I can copy a link to share it, I can embed it, I can unfollow the person. So if they're sharing stuff that you're just not interested in, you can unfollow them. It doesn't mean that you're not connected with them anymore. It's just you don't follow their posts. I can unfollow Morty or I Don't Want to See This. So I could click here and then it would ask why I don't want to but it would take it out of my feed. So you can also do that. Now LinkedIn's algorithm does an amazing job of customizing this newsfeed for you. For example, it knows that I love to read articles about education, leadership and careers based on my activity on the site. Although I have a lot of connections, over time it starts to recognize those who shares that I read the most and it surfaces them when they have new posts. I spend a lot of time scrolling through my Newsfeed because it does such a good job of curating content that's beneficial to me. Now, especially as a student use your Newsfeed as a resource to learn more about news trends and opportunities related to your field of interest. And know that the more you interact with it the more customized it will become. As you like or comment on certain posts, it helps LinkedIn determine what else they should be including in your customized newsfeed. Over time, I've used my Newsfeed to find great articles, free resources, I've had opportunities arise, I've had questions answered and feedback given on projects that I posted. It's a great way to stay professionally connected, motivated, inspired, and informed.
