Job postings on LinkedIn

- [Instructor] We just searched for jobs and found some related to what Julie wants to do. Next, let's take a look at the job postings that appear next to each job and what they tell us. Now, for this example, I did switch up the search and I did that because I want to take a look at Microsoft. This is one that I feel comfortable looking at here, their company page, as well as their posting. Now in here, we can see the job posting for this program manager job. That down below it's telling us which company is for, where it's located as well as the approximate salary. It also tells us it's actively recruiting for this position and they have 12 applicants already. Now on the right, in this job posting is where you can learn a plethora about this job. So once you find a job that you think you like it's going to be your job now to go over to that right-hand side and take a look at it and see if this is the job that's right for you and if you fit the qualifications that are needed. Up at the top, you can see that we can apply for the job right here and then we can also save it. I'll go ahead and click save and then just to show you where this saves I'm going to switch to another tab where I have Julie's account and if I were to go up to the jobs tab, you'll notice on the left-hand side it says my jobs, and if I click on this, this is where your saved jobs will show up. So I just want to show you where I saved job will show up. Now, if you scroll down here it tells you more about the job, the company, whether or not you have any connections at this company and so on. So here I could read over the description of it, the responsibilities, qualifications. Down here it's telling me the industry that it's in so this might be important for you to set your industry for this if it's something you're applying for. Tells you job functions, estimated pay range and then you can unlock the salary insights and more. I can show you example of the salary insights. I'm going to switch over to my account and here I have a premium subscription. I just went to a random job and selected it here so you could see what these insights look like. Here it's given me competitive intelligence, telling me how many applicants there are, the top skills, it's saying here I have one out of the top skills among all the applicants and they're showing me that's leadership. The other ones I don't have. Now this represents something very interesting and important because I actually do know Microsoft Excel. So the fact that I didn't enter that in as one of my skills was a mistake because it's one that's needed here. So you might want to see these and adjust and so on but these are some of the insights you would have as a premium member. Now, I'm going to switch back over to Julie's account and if I scroll down you'll see here where it tells you more about the company. You can follow the company and remember that's important. You have a much better chance of getting a job at a company that you follow. I'm going to go ahead and follow it here. I can read more about it by clicking on there. I can read trending employee content and then there's one other thing I can do and that is to click on the company name and it will bring me to the company page. So here I can learn a lot more about the company. I can read the about, I can see what type of stuff they're posting about, I can view people who work here and so on. So I'm going to back out of here and remember that to the right of each of these jobs is that job posting and they are extremely important. You're going to want to take the time to read those over and find a job that sounds right for you.
