LinkedIn Premium

- [Instructor] One great thing about the LinkedIn platform is that you can use it for free. There is, however, a Premium subscription for LinkedIn. And although I'm not trying to sell it to you, I do want to point out some of the benefits that it provides for job seekers. Right now, I'm on the Premium Career features page. And here, you can see some of the different benefits that you get. First, we have direct messaging to recruiters. Now, remember that you can't reach out and communicate with people you're not connected with. But, when you have a Premium subscription, you get several InMails that allow you to reach out to people that you're not connected to. You also get applicant insights to see how you compare to other candidates. Let's take a look at what this looks like. I'm going to switch over to my account, and I've clicked on a random job here. And over on the right-hand side, it says competitive intelligence about other applicants. It's telling me how many there are. It says that I have three out of the top 10 skills among other applicants. I can see which ones I have and which ones I'm missing. I can see the seniority level of applicants, the education, location, and more. So, you do get some quality insights when you have premium. Now, I'm going to switch back. Another thing that you have is instant access to salary insights, which we'll take a look at later. Another feature is the top applicant jobs feature. Here, LinkedIn will recommend jobs to you, where you would be a top candidate. You also have access to online video courses and interview preparation. So, this is something that may be worth trying out when you're looking for a job. One nice thing is that you have the ability to try this out for free. Inside of Julie's account, you can see in the upper right corner, it says try Premium free for one month. I'll click on this. It'll ask a couple of questions to see which type of plan that she would want. But, eventually she would end up selecting the career plan here to look for a job. So, I work with people all the time on their LinkedIn accounts. And for many people, I say that it wouldn't be worth for them to get a Premium membership. But, in the case of looking for a job, while you're actively job seeking, LinkedIn Premium can be very powerful and it's something to consider.
