Open to finding a new job

- [Instructor] Before we start searching for jobs, I want to point out a newer feature on LinkedIn, and that is the open to finding a new job feature. Let's take a look at how to access it. I'm on the profile page right now for Julie Parker, a fictitious account I'm using for this course. Now, Julie's looking for a job, so she wants to turn this feature on. You'll notice here that underneath her name and headline, it has here Open to. And when I click that, we have the option to being open to finding a new job, or open to hiring. I'm going to select finding a new job. And when I do this, we can start entering in some information about what we're looking for. So, here you can put in different job titles. Maybe I want to go ahead and also add in project manager. I can add in here different titles that I would be interested in having. Now, below this, we have locations. Here, I'm fine with Los Angeles metropolitan area. And I can add in any locations that I'd be comfortable working at. Now, below this, I can click whether I'm open to remote work, and Julie's going to go ahead and click on that. Next, you have start date. Can you start immediately? Or you're flexible and just casually browsing. You have the job types. Do you want this to be full-time, contract, and so on? And then, down here, you can choose who sees your open profile. Now, this is something I recommend doing. Over six million LinkedIn members are using this open to work feature. And what they found is that they're 40% more likely to receive InMails from recruiters. And this makes sense. Recruiters want to reach out to people who they think have a realistic chance of replying and being interested in the job. You're letting them know here that you're open to opportunities. Now, there is one issue that comes up, and it makes sense. If you're already working somewhere, you might be hesitant to do this because you don't want your employer to see that you're looking for a job. But, remember that down here at the bottom, you do have an option to set who can see this. If I click here, it says do you want all LinkedIn members to be able to see this? Or recruiters only, meaning that the only people that will see it is people who have a recruiter account. Now, if you're not comfortable doing either of these, you don't have to turn this thing on. In this case though, Julie's actively looking for a job, and she wants one. So, she wants her connections, as well as recruiters, to know she's open to work. So, here I'll click on that. I'll click add to profile. And like that, we've added this feature to Julie's account. As you can see, it adds it here to her profile picture, and that is now turned on. At any time, if she wants to turn it off, she can simply go down here and turn it off.
