From the course: Finding a Job on LinkedIn

Research companies

- [Narrator] In the same way we researched people on LinkedIn, we can do the same with companies. This is a good idea to do for companies that you'd like to work for, ones that you're interviewing for, or just a company that's a thought leader in your industry. There are 57 million companies that have pages on LinkedIn and these pages provide a lot of valuable feedback. In this search bar, I'm going to search for a company. And in this case, I'll type in Microsoft. Now it pops up right here and also left that company page. This brings me to the company page. The first thing I'm going to do is follow them. So connect with this company, remember that having connections at a company or following a company on LinkedIn improves your chances of getting hired there, at just accordingly. Now who works at Microsoft? Well above this, I can see where it says see all 196,000 employees on LinkedIn. So in other words, people who work at Microsoft. If I click on this, it brings me to the profiles of these people, up at the top I can even narrow them down further. And I'm going to back up here, now down below you'll see this navigation bar that says home, about, pulse, and more. This is where we can find out more information about the company. The about section is going to go over more about them. What their mission is, what their industry is, their company size, headquarters, specialties and more. Up at the top, we have posts You can see what they've been posting about on LinkedIn. You can see jobs, you can see stuff related to their culture or company life, people, and videos. So there is a ton of different things that you can find on these company pages. And I recommend that you take advantage of that. Going into an interview, knowing about the company, what they value, and what they've been up to lately we'll give you a huge advantage.
