Are you ready to start searching?

- [Instructor] We've now gone over a lot of stuff that you need to consider before you start your job search, or before you start applying for jobs. Now in this chapter, we'll take a look at how to search for jobs. One final question that you'll want to ask before you begin your search though, is are you ready to start searching? There are some things that you'll want to consider about the job that you're looking for in order to focus in on ones that will work for you and be sustainable. Some of them are obvious, things like salary and benefits. Do they meet the needs that you have? Next, are things like flexibility, the hours or shift you need, or the possibility of working remotely. Distance, is the travel to work sustainable? And then, two that I think are ultra important, but underrated, the first is, is the job a good match for you? In order to have a job be sustainable, you want it to be a job that you don't mind doing, or better yet, that you like to do. Think about things such as whether or not you'll be working with other people. Will you be utilizing your skillset and so on. And finally, company culture. Don't underrate culture. A positive culture at work can be so inspiring, while a negative culture can be toxic. There are things you can do to try to gauge this. Research companies and see what they're posting. Check out some of their employees, and what they're posting on LinkedIn. Do they seem proud to be working for their company? Do they speak positively about the company? Also, ask about the culture in your interview. Now, once you've thought these things through, you're ready to begin doing some serious searching.
