About TCP wrappers

- [Narrator] Firewalls are incredibly important, they limit which packets get to which host; however there are times when you want more protection from within a network application. If a network service is sending and receiving encrypted data, the firewall can't tell if it should allow it or deny it. The services it self has access to the data , and can often make a better decision; one way of doing this is by using TCP Wrappers, note, that denying access with TCP Wrappers should be using conjunction with a firewall, and is not a replacement. TCP Wrappers looks at two files, and determines whether to allow or deny access to the service. This files are in /etc/hosts.allow, and /etc/hosts.deny. A syntax of both of this files is the same . The services column is a coma separate list of services that this rule should apply to you. The clients are coma separate list of hosts or IP addresses affected by the rule. There are…
