- [Instructor] Systemd - Networkd is the new stack to manage network configuration files on Linux. Along with this comes systemd that's resolvd. Resolvd provides interface specific name resolution. Currently, we manage global name resolution configuration in the /etc/resolv.conf file and per interface configuration in each ifcfg network configuration file. The current system is fairly rigid and not very dynamic. It's not uncommon these days to be connected to more than one dynamic network at a time and each having different name resolution servers. For instance, we may have a VPN connection going through a public Wi-Fi network. The DNS servers associated with these connections would come and go as the connections would. If DNS resolution isn't handled dynamically per interface, then there may be old DNS entries that are irrelevant to our current environment.
