- [Instructor] There are a couple things we need to think about before installing Linux. You can install it two different ways. Via a network install or a full DVD install. Either way, you will have to download an ISO image from a website. The full DVD installation needs an ISO image that's much larger but contains everything needed to install. Technically speaking, an outside network connection is not needed when installing from the full DVD. Because the install files are coming from a static DVD and not an online software repository the install goes much faster. Because the file versions are frozen when the disc is made you will need to update the operating system immediately after the install process has finished. It's also important to note that I'm calling this a full DVD install but this does not mean you need to make a DVD disc.
