Configuring networking with NetworkManager
- [Instructor] On a Debian system, by default the network is managed by NetworkManager, though you can turn that off and configure interfaces manually in the /etc/network/interfaces file as well. Working with NetworkManager is a broader topic than I want to cover in great detail here, but let's take a look at the basics. For more of a deep dive, take a look at my course, "Linux: Network Configuration," here on LinkedIn Learning. NetworkManager has a few command line utilities for managing the network called nmtui and nmcli. nmtui is a text-based visual editor, and for straightforward configuration, it offers everything you need. It doesn't cover some of the more exotic configuration options though. I'll open up nmtui here so we can take a look around.
