- [Instructor] In the last episode, we took a look at installing Linux as the only operating system on a computer. Now we'll explore dual-booting, or installing Linux alongside another existing operating system. This allows you to restart the system to switch between the operating systems that are installed. There are a few things to note right upfront here. The Ubuntu installer that I'm using, which I created in the previous episode, will handle installing along another operating system pretty well. If you have more than one hard drive or more than one operating system already, you'll need to carefully think through how the partitioning and boot manager process will work for you. With both operating systems sharing one disk, it's a little bit easier. My system is turned off and I've plugged in my USB installer.
