- [Instructor] Kerberos is a rather complex authentication system, but we're going to do a quick overview just to cover some terms and get an idea how it works. If you want to know more in-depth information about how it works, you might want to check out kerberos.org for more information. In Kerberos, we have a Key Distribution Center database that holds principles and encryption key data. I'll get to principles in a moment. The Key Distribution Center database runs on the Key Distribution Center server. This host is a central server that runs the Authentication Service and the Ticket Granting Service. A principle, as I mentioned earlier, is a verified client. The realm is the administrative area of a Key Distribution Center. The Ticket Granting Ticket is the initial ticket requested by the client.
