Learning Fedora

- [Scott] Fedora is a fast-paced, forward-looking distribution of Linux designed to get new tools and technologies out to a broad group of users. While Fedora comes in a few different configurations, the workstation version is a popular choice for developers and other professionals who use Linux on the desktop. A lot of what makes Fedora different from other distros is the versions of software included in each release. Fedora packages new and updated versions of a lot of tools. So in this course we'll take a look at the general tools you'll use on the desktop. Fedora also introduces other new tools and we'll have a look at a few of those later on. Because Fedora has a wide audience, we'll stick to the basics here to help you build a foundation to explore on your own. We'll spend some time becoming familiar with the GNOME desktop and then we'll touch on some command line basics. After that, we'll take a look at managing the system. If you're new to Linux, Fedora can be an exciting place to start, though this course isn't designed as introduction to Linux itself. If you're already familiar with another distro switching to Fedora can still take a litte getting used to. I'm Scott Simpson and I hope you'll join me here on LinkedIn Learning as we explore the basics of Fedora.
