Managing processes

- [Instructor] Using GNOME, we can control processes running on the system which is inside the utilities folder here in activities. This shows the processes, resources, and file system usage. In here, we'll focus on the processes section. Under processes, I can see the processes that my user owns, and clicking on this little menu here on the top right, I can change that selection, and I can switch to show the hierarchy of process instead of a flat list. I can find out more about its properties, including the status of the process and the SELinux Security Context, I can also see what files a process has opened. In the menu here, I can change the priority of a process and send it various signals, like to stop or end the process or to kill it outright. Each of these is a different approach to ending a process, specific hooks for each of them. The top command shows processes on the system, along with a small summary of system resources.
