- [Instructor] Fedora uses systemd to manage services. As with most of the things we've seen in this course, systemd in not unique to fedora. But it's an important part of managing the system. So, we will take a brief look at using it to control services. Systemd operates as an init system and a service manager. In order to control services we can use the systemctl command. Combined with various options to start, stop, restart, and check the status of services on the system. Services are the programs or tools that run in the background, waiting for input. Things like the system logger, the web server, the audio service, and many others. In systemd, services are units which can be independent or they can be part of targets.
