Managing software with APT
- [Instructor] One of the primary distinguishing features of the Debian distribution is that it uses APT or the advanced package tool to manage software packages installed on the system. APT or apt represents a collection of tools that each have different functions, including interacting with remote repositories. And these tools rely on the de-package package manager to install and manage Debian packages which have the extension DEB. The APT suite of tools includes things like APT cache, APT get, and more. But as an end user, we'll use the command APT. The APT command surfaces the most commonly used features and options offered by lower-level tools. Let's take a few minutes to use APT to search for, install, and modify software.
