Migrating to a new distro

- [Instructor] One of the great things about learning and using Linux is the variety of distros we can choose from. Because Linux is a multi-user operating system, our userspace customization like desktop settings and configurations for command line tools and our personal files are kept in our home directory by default. That makes it easy to scoop up the whole home directory and move it between distros, taking our settings and information with us. Distro hopping, as it's sometimes called is a great way to explore different distributions. And generally speaking, if you switch distros and take your data with you, instead of starting from a completely clean installation every time, you'll follow a few steps. The first and most important step is to make sure you have your personal information, your home directory, somewhere that will survive an operating system installation.
