- [Instructor] Before we install, let's optimize our VM a bit. Be sure that your RHhost1 VM is highlighted and click on the settings icon. In the Settings dialog, click on System in the left-hand pane and then click on the Motherboard tab. Ensure Enable I/O APIC is selected. Now, click on the Processor tab. If you have a multi-core host computer, then select multiple CPUs. It's safe to select half the available CPUs. If you have four CPUs available, then choose two. This gives more CPU cycles to the guest, but still reserve some for the host. Note, that if you choose too many CPU cores, VirtualBox will let you know that the settings are invalid. In the same tab, enable PAE/NX. PAE allows 32-bit virtual machines to access more than four gigabytes of RAM. If you're installing a 32-bit guest OS, then you definitely want to enable this feature.
