Root = power

- In Linux there are three types of users, root, system accounts, and users or people. Root has full access to the system. It's the all-powerful account on a Linux system. Root is more powerful than an admin user on Windows because an admin user on Windows can be restricted, but the root cannot be restricted. It has full access to all files on the Linux system. Root cannot be restricted, and hence you should not be using root for day-to-day operations. The second type of user account is System Accounts. These are created for specific tasks. An example would be the httpd user that is used by the httpd server. In other words it's a user account used to provide web services. The third type of user is people. These are the users that actually connect to the Linux system to use it. For example, to access files on the Linux system.
