- [Instructor] SELinux, or Security Enhanced Linux, is a security enhancement framework that helps to further secure Linux installations against malicious actors. Most people's first interaction with SELinux comes from when something isn't working. And after banging their head against the usual troubleshooting steps, they just turn SELinux off in a fit of frustration. And while turning SELinux off does in fact fix issues where SELinux is preventing access to something, it's important to understand why a security system might be preventing something from working and how to properly resolve the issue instead. After all, if the front door squeaks a little bit when you open it, the correct solution is not to just completely remove the door.
