- [Instructor] To view your routing table, you can be logged into either of your VMs. I'm logged into my rhhost2 VM. In a terminal type in ip space route and hit Enter. Let's look at the different parts of this output. The left hand column is the destination network address with subnet mask. The word default signifies the default gateway address where traffic is sent if there's no available route. The second section encompasses two words, dev and the name of the device for the network. This could be a physical or virtual network device. The third section also encompasses two words, proto followed by the protocol. The kernel protocol says that the kernel installed the route during auto configuration. These protocols are defined in the /etc/iproute2/rt_protos file.
