Visual file management with Midnight Commander

- Midnight Commander offers a visual way of working with files in a terminal or console. If you work with files at the command line a lot, it can get tedious to use typed out commands to rename, move and copy files between directories. And, in some cases, we need to use command line tools to check or change information about files. In many cases, using these commands works just fine. But, if you're interested in another way of working with files in the terminal, there are a few text mode file browsers that can help. Midnight Commander has been around for a while. And I want to show it to you in this episode. Here on my system, I'll make sure it's installed with apt install mc. And, once it's installed, I'll open it up with the command mc. The Midnight Commander view has two sides, or panels. Along the top here is a menu bar. And along the bottom is a set of shortcut reminders that we can use with the function keys. F1…
