- [Instructor] Now that we understand how the attack parameter shapes the onset of a sound, let's get into the next phase of ADSR. Specifically the decay and sustain parameters. Now you might be wondering why we don't do a separate movie for each control, decay and sustain. Well, the reality is that these two parameters of a sound envelope are actually inextricably linked together. The way they work and shape our tone. The first parameter, the decay, is a time-based setting. And it controls how long it takes to get to the second parameter. Which is the sustain level. Sustain is the only part of the ADSR envelope that isn't time-based. So, we'll typically see controls for decay in milliseconds. And our controls for sustain will be in some sort of volume unit like decibels or simply a scale of say zero to one. If you want your attack to be louder than the rest of the node, then you can indicate a lower sustain value.…
