Applying multiband compression for more focused dynamics control

- [Narrator] Since we put so much focus on the lead vocal of a song, sometimes traditional EQ and compression leaves you still wanting more control over the dynamics of a voice. One tool that's extremely effective and useful in this regard, is the multiband compressor, or as Logic calls it, the Multipressor. As you can see, I've got a Multipressor inserted into the vocal track, and what it is is four traditional compressors, essentially, that focus on different frequency bands of the track. We can have the first band is looking at everything, in this case, below 42 hertz, 43 hertz. The middle band is everything between 43 hertz and 490 hertz, and the third band is everything between 490 hertz and 6,600 hertz, or 6.6 kilohertz, and the fourth band is everything above 6,600 and above, up to 20 kilohertz. We can focus these bands, and I can focus them a little better than they're focused now. I'm going to use ... I'm not going to use Band 1. I don't really care about frequencies below 80…
