Auditioning track order

If you're mastering several songs for a CD, vinyl, or even a digital album where multiple songs will play back to back, you'll want to determine the track order and spacing during mastering. Now, there's no reason why this step can't come first. But the benefit to doing it last is that when the tracks are next to each other in the Logic project's timeline, it makes them easier to audition. You could do this before you do any mastering work, if you prefer. However, doing it later makes it easier to compare the sound of the different tracks since you can easily switch between them when they're at the same point in the project timeline. Since our songs are each on their own track in this simple mastering template. It's really easy to try different song orders. Sliding the songs around on the track as long as they stay on the same track won't change our processing chain unless you used automation during mastering, and even if you did use automation you can still choose to move the…
