- [Narrator] In the previous movie, we used flextime to re time the drums of this song to the grid. In this movie we want to do the opposite. That is we want to leave the drums alone and conform logic's underlying grid to this performance. The best way to start this process is to single out a drum part that has all the rhythmic timing elements clearly defined. In this case, we'll use the kick drum track. The next step is to get a ballpark reading on the average tempo of the drum part. So I can do this by double-clicking the kick drum region which opens up the track editor. And then I can click on smart tempo. Smart tempo analyzes the audio and tells me that the ballpark tempo of this drum track is 133.9. Okay, good. So we can take that information and enter that into the project tempo up at the top. 133.9 enter. So now logic's project tempo is in a ballpark relationship with the kick drum.
