Here's an easy trick to help your creative process while programming a beat, making drum fills by MIDI time compressing. Before I get started, I'm going to color these tracks to make it easier to remember which is the drum parts versus the keys. I'll select the drums, I'll use the shortcut Option+C. Make this purple and different shade of purple. And I'll make my keys blue. Okay. Let's have a quick listen to this. Listen to the high hats. They're fine, they work. But they're pretty boring. Okay, let's change this up. I will make the easiest drum fill ever with these high hats. I'll take region loop off the high hats here in the region parameter box. And Option drag to make an actual new region of the high hats at bar three. And now I'll hold the Option key while I hover in the lower right-hand corner of the region of bar four.
