Dynamic moving-coil capsule
- [Instructor] The dynamic moving coil microphone capsule is the most rugged and solid. When compared to condenser and ribbon microphones it's easy to understand why they hold up so well and why they're a great choice in many applications. In fact the Shure SM57 and and SM58, likely the most popular microphones ever are dynamic microphones. A dynamic mic capsule operates on a magnetic principle using a magnet at it's core surrounded by a cylindrical coil made from copper wire. On top of the copper coil is a diaphragm made of thin plastic that resonates, sympathetically vibrates, to the audio sound waves. This copper cylinder is suspended over the magnet so that the entire coil moves up and down around the magnet in direct correlation to the influence of the audio waves on the diaphragm. The movement of the copper coil around the magnet causes a constant variation of the north south magnetism in the magnet. That also directly correlates to the audio waveform that moves the diaphragm…
