- [Voiceover] One of my favorite parts of music making is that there really aren't any rules. My own personal rule is always to try and get as close as possible to translating the sound I'm hearing in my head, into the actual recording. In many cases, for me, this involves a lot of experimentation with audio plugins, analog synths, or capturing sounds I hear while going for a walk, and bringing them into my DAW. I do want to mention that in many electronic genres there are some general guidelines for working within a specific genre, for example, tempo range, drum patterns, especially for the kick and the snare, mixing techniques, like if you're releasing a project to vinyl, you'll want to be conscience of the sub bass, so that the needle doesn't jump off the record. And then, you know, other things like, pitched up vocals, which are really prevalent in some genres, like trap or future bass, but maybe aren't as present or prevalent in other genres.
