First and foremost, sensitive studio microphones, which often respond very evenly across the audible frequency spectrum, are very prone to feeding back through the sound system. With such a full-range pick up, any frequency that wants to feed back in the system will quickly find a way to feed back through a mic designed for studio use, where feedback isn't an issue. Mics that are designed for live sound are almost always used in close proximity to the source in order to minimize leakage of everything else on the stage into every mic. As we look more closely at mic types, it'll become very clear why certain mics are better on stage than others. The mic that's great for use on stage will have excellent built-in damping to minimize the transfer of stage rumble, footsteps, the kick drum, and bouncing musicians into the mic capsule.
