Loudness meter in Logic

- [Instructor] Don't worry, our mix is safe, and we'll get back to it in a minute. We're not mixing our project for TV, it's not an ad, and many of you aren't in the U.S., but I did want to devote one short movie to showing you Logic's loudness meter. Years ago, people complained that the audio for the ads was always louder than the audio for the TV program. So in 2010, the US Congress passed the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act, the CALM Act. So if you need to comply with those standards, Logic has a handy tool for that. So in your stereo bus, after any other processing you might have, like this limiter, Add, Metering, Loudness Meter, and Stereo. As I'm recording this, Pro Tools and iZotope also make loudness meters, which work by analyzing your finished mix. So you would have to bounce and then import the audio into those apps, determine what needs fixing, and then go back to your mix and fix it.
